Great Southern Real Estate Development - The Basics

Great Southern Real Estate Development is a locally owned and operated General Contractor specializing in residential new construction and renovations in the Greater New Orleans Area. The company was born in 2009 and based in Metairie, and headed by its founder, Michael B. Smuck, Jr. Born and raised in the New Orleans area, Michael has always strived to see the city thrive. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration, he went on to receive his Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University.  Upon graduating, he began his career in commercial real estate investment and property management and coordinated the Acquisition and Disposition of over $1 Billion in commercial real estate.  For the 5 years that he worked in the commercial real estate industry, Michael obtained invaluable knowledge of budgets, timelines, financing, and valuation of real estate.

After Hurricane Katrina, Michael saw an opportunity to help rebuild NOLA and its surrounding communities.  As a licensed General Contractor, Michael began a small residential construction business in 2009 and has now built more than 80 homes.  He and his team work diligently to provide homes that will appeal to the eye and that will last a lifetime and beyond!
